The Tipping Point.
In the early 2010’s, Philadelphia seriously lacked social engagement for young, diverse professionals of culture. Natives and transplants alike desired “home-base” entertainment options instead of having to conform to the palate of the mainstream or travel to New York City or Washington DC.
After a few meetings of minds, we took on the challenge creating opportunities for diverse audiences and companies that want to reach them -- January 2015, 6IX 8IGHT was born.
So Where’d ‘6IX 8IGHT’ Come From??
After identifying the mission, we proceeded in constructing an identity. Names have meanings, hence when deciding what we would call ourselves we discerned on our common threads and what we wanted imparted in our events and dealings: Integrity. Ingenuity. Versatility. and Community. – All characteristics which Mother Morehouse instilled in us. Putting a twist on our graduating classes, c/o 2006 and c/o 2008, 6IX 8IGHT was coined.
